SO... I've been working with Kylie (kinkedworks.com) lately, working on reconstructed clothing and generally awesome articles.
Its been exciting, like I've found a new love.

I'm leaving my studio at SPACE 1026 this weekend. I've been working there for over a year now, and I don't play well with others.
Its liberating.
I'm working on building our website, but since its less fun than making stuff, it might be while before it sees the light of day. Get Ready.

From last years Ready Made Magazine,which highlighted a few Alt-Spaces, including Space 1026 and Oakland's LoBot. One page me, one page AbbyG. Old space-mates from Young Archer. We Texas/Diamonds kids have done pretty well for ourselves.

Kenzo Murals

I used to live in Kenzington, and used to spend a shitload of time feeling sorry for myself. It was winter and thats what I do when its cold. Cold is cold. Regardless if its Midwest freezing or Philly mild, the seasonal depression still hits. Al Burian wrote about Chicago winters being the most soul-crushing thing to experience. In Burn Collector number 10 he wrote the wind chill turns you to "a blood and brain popsicle". That imagery has stuck with me all this time. I did this in my Kenzo bedroom to cheer myself up.

I brought with me an old stencil from a mural I did at Tini Martini in Chicago, and just kind of revamped it.

The mural was commissioned through my friend Jillian Valentino, and I could only work on it while the club was open. Which SUCKED.

Afficial Window Hotness

Literally a month after I moved to Philly, my friend Mark from Space used his copy job hook-up to make me a portfolio to show galleries, cafes, and boutiques.
I walked around Philly with like a list of stores, galleries and the like I researched in Chicago. (To clarify research=lurked)
I met soo many people and most of them pointed me in the direction of other spots that would be worth my while to check out.
I landed this window mural with Afficial and made good friends out of it. Like Ron,
who hollered at me to work on a commission at Ubiq, the spot he's at now. My friend
Thom Lessner might be in the mix, but our styles are soo fucking different. It will be interesting to see what it will look like!!!

Ron said my dude was "diving into cool".

Tattoed Mom's Medusa

Welcome Home

My once-friend Joe and I did this window for Una Mae's in Chicago.
For a good time, try spray-painting in a narrow and enclosed store window during a Chicago summer, it truly is the way to go.

Una Mae's is huge now, having moved on up to the proverbial "east side".
Its now closer to Damen Milwaukee Ave in a store 4 times its size.
I recently got Space 1026 a show in Chicago at this years Version Fest.
We drove out there and put together an amazing show in an amazingly small amount of time.
I came up with the idea of "Home", blending together the nature of Space and its role in our lives as members. The conceptual root of it being my return to the city I was born and raised in, calling home 19 years out of my 24.
It was nice to see my friends, have them hug me and say "Welcome home".
It meant a lot, so I brought that with me to the table when we were brainstorming what the fuck we were gonna do in a gallery a lot bigger than we had anticipated.

The idea of home is a strange notion anyway, I have no real sense of permanence in general, like "running till I run out of road" style.
Its nice to know Chicago is there, that it will always be the same, or slightly better.
My friends have dogs, beds on bedframes not floors, records on shelves not milkcrates, and the kid who used to hook me up at Kinko's is now the manager.
Things are looking up.

Quimby's Bookstore Window Display

This installation was the last thing I did in Chicago before I moved to Philly.
It was at Quimby's bookstore where my boy Logan Bay hooked it up.
He's an incredibly talented dj who puts together Gutter Butter back home.

The beautiful ladies at Topstitch have blown up my spot with posting the new arrivals of my tees. OhMyTodd, Jonny Sorber and I joined forces last summer to start a clothing line armed with their brains, promo knowledge, and my moxy and designs.
Together we are Trouble Industries.
Named after my cat, and I guess me.
